Bert Zimmerli joined Intermountain Healthcare in 2003. He is responsible for the direction and oversight of all Intermountain Healthcare financial operations. He also oversees Intermountain’s Supply Chain and its Innnovation and Venture activities. Bert serves on several Boards, including R1RCM, public company providing revenue cycle services; the Health Management Academy; the Advisory Board of Chicago Pacific Founders and is an “observer” on the investment committee of Leavitt Equity Partners.  He also serves on the Governing Boards of SelectHealth, Castell, LLC, the Intermountain Healthcare Foundation and the Intermountain Community Care Foundation.  He chairs the boards of Intermountain Health Ventures, LLC, Empiric Health, Culmination Bio, Alluceo, Inc. and Intalere (the fifth largest Group Purchasing Organization in the country.)

Prior to joining Intermountain Healthcare, Bert was the executive vice president and chief financial officer of the Methodist Hospital System in Houston, Texas (now Houston Methodist). Prior to that, he served in numerous capacities with Memorial Hermann Healthcare System in Houston, including senior vice president and CFO and was president of several of its smaller subsidiaries. He also was a partner in Ernst & Young’s Houston office, where he spent 16 years, specializing in healthcare.

Bert received a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master’s degree in business administration, both from the University of Wisconsin. He is a Certified Public Accountant and received the Elijah Watt Sells Award for receiving the second-highest score in the nation when he took the CPA exam.
